First Store in Southeast Asia! KOKUYO Stationery "Campus STYLE" Directly Managed Store to Open in Malaysia on May 25

KOKUYO Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka / President: Hidekuni Kuroda) announces that its Malaysian subsidiary KOKUYO International (MALAYSIA) Sdn. Bhd. will open Southeast Asia's first "Campus STYLE the Starling" directly managed store for KOKUYO stationery on Saturday May 25, 2024. The store will be located in "the Starling" shopping mall in Petaling Jaya, a suburb of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 

As the value-added stationery market expands due to the growing enthusiasm of students for studying as well as heightening needs for self-expression via social media, KOKUYO's stationery business aims to capture the market by enhancing our points of contact with customers and expand our business domains not only in Japan but also globally.

In 1997, we established a local subsidiary in Malaysia, and have been engaged in stationary sales while mainly focusing on developing our office space proposal business. In 2022, we received positive feedback to a survey we held in response to recent economy growth and the growing enthusiasm of students for studying, and in 2023, we held a POP UP SHOP at "the Starling" and "1 Utama Shopping Centre". These shops served a total of over 2,000 customers, ranging from students to working adults.

The first directly managed store in Southeast Asia will be opened in "the Starling", located in Petaling Jaya, a city adjacent to the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur. Petaling Jaya is an area where modern office buildings and high-rise apartments co-exist with traditional restaurants and stores, bustling with office workers during the week as well as families and couples living nearby on evenings and weekends.

"Campus STYLE the Startling Store" will feature approximately 1,500 products, including the "Noritake" series, which is popular in China, and the "a little special" series.
