KOKUYO Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka/CEO: Hidekuni Kuroda) has received the Red Dot Design Award 2023, a prestigious German design award, for two products: the pallo chair, which supports flexible work styles, and the Liite casual chair. The Red Dot Design Award is one of the world's most prestigious design awards, having continued since 1955, and is judged on nine criteria, including design innovation and functionality.

(1) pallo
The pallo chair supports flexible work styles with its compact form and work-optimized seating comfort. Equipped with auto-adjustable rocking and forward tilt functions, it comfortably supports working postures in a variety of situations, from collaboration between team members to solo work. The round form design gives it a space-friendly look, and the circular seat surface ensures smooth standing and sitting. The armrests are also designed to be short, reducing bumping against desks and surrounding furniture. Furthermore, the backrest and seat can be detached with a single motion, incorporating a long-life design that allows them to be switched when you want to change the look of the chair or when they get dirty.

The Liite chair is a casual chair that gently fits into workspaces, combining a living room-like design with work functionality. A tilt mechanism allows the back and seat to recline, and its shell shape gives a sense of being enveloped, providing solid support over long hours of work. The back cushion, which can get dirty easily, can be switched simply by using the snap button, ensuring that the chair can be used for many years in good condition. Part of the chair's resin shell is made from biomass plastic recycled from palm oil press bunches (inedible), which is agricultural waste, thereby utilizing materials that would otherwise be discarded to reduce the use of petroleum resources.
The back portion comes in both cushion and resin types, while the legs come in four types: four legs, caster legs, elevating legs, and wooden legs. The chair is also available in a wide range of colors to match any space.
